01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Choose a coffee to suit your taste and pair it with cheesecake. At GLOBE COFFEE, the character of the beans can guide a leisurely break. One visitor enjoyed a Costa Rica pour-over, describing its mellow feel, full body and fruit-like aroma, and ordered cheesecake to go with it. The menu describes the Costa Rica as a honey-processed coffee, with a juicy, rich yet clean taste. It’s a pairing to consider when you want to savour the flavours of coffee and cake together.
If you’re unsure which beans to choose, try describing the flavours you like. One visitor asked for a strong coffee with a little acidity and was recommended Guatemala, which suited their taste. This coffee balances gentle citrus acidity with a moderate body. If you prefer a lemon-like freshness and smooth richness, Ethiopia Aricha is another option. Part of the pleasure of choosing a single-origin coffee is deciding first which flavour direction appeals to you.
The blends have their own distinct characters, too. The house’s main blend, Globe, is mild and well balanced, while Savoy is described as refreshing and sweet, like fruit juice. For a darker roast, Browns offers clean bitterness, sweetness and body. If you’re in the mood to compare coffees, Mandheling—with its herb-like aroma and smooth richness—also makes a good after-meal cup.
Sweet options include cheesecake, mocha cheesecake with coffee flavour, lemon cake and lemon financiers. Visitors also mention seasonal sweets and a daily orange pound cake enjoyed with coffee. Try a lemon financier for a small bite, or choose cheesecake or whatever seasonal sweet is available that day.
There’s toast, too, if you’d prefer something more substantial than coffee and a sweet. One diner said the cheese toast was a generous portion; another enjoyed alternating between cheese toast and a strawberry tart. The menu also lists toast with Calpis butter and Okinawan honey, so you can choose between a sweet treat and a light meal according to your mood.
Several visitors note that the dine-in space has limited seating. One person who visited on a weekend afternoon found a seat right away, but felt that arriving earlier would be wise if you want to be sure of getting in. Whether you’re taking time over a carefully chosen cup or making a small meal of cake or toast, this is a café where the coffee’s character can shape your break.
